Publishing The New York Times started to use the right name of Kyiv instead of Kiev.

“Following a decision by the US Embassy in the summer to approve the change of the official name of the capital of Ukraine to an international database, a number of world-renowned US editions have joined the recommendations of the international action #KyivNotKiev, endorsing an updated name on their front pages,” embassy.

On November 13, 2019 Yuriy Shevchuk who is a lecturer at Columbia University, commented on why Kyiv and not Kiev should be written. “I just opened the mail and read a letter from a New York Times correspondent interviewing me last Wednesday about how to spell Kyiv or Kiev in English. And how to pronounce Kyiv properly. This interview had great consequences, because, as she wrote to me today, in his result, the New York Times has finally abandoned Russian Kiev and won’t write Kyiv ” Shevchuk wrote.

Such publishing as The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Associated Press, Bloomberg and British Financial Times, The Economist, The Telegraph started to use the right name of Kyiv even before.
